INTRODUCTION :
The B.Sc. (I.T.) of University of Mumbai and its affiliated Colleges aims to synergies Information Technology in all its ramifications. To meet this objective, this program is designed to provide basic inputs in various aspects of an broad understanding of IT and its other interdisciplinary interfaces. The focus of the program is Information Technology and Management of Information Technology.

- Integrated 3 years course:
This is an integrated Degree course of 3 years duration. After completion of the course a candidate can enroll for a Post Graduation degree of 2 years duration leading to a Masters of Science in Information Technology M.Sc.(IT) degree.
ELIGIBILITY

Diploma in Engineering OR 10+2 candidates with 50 % marks and with Mathematics at 12th level at one and the same sitting.

- Admission criteria:

H.S.C. Marks + College Selection Test (CST) + Personal Interviews.

The College has been allotted 60 seats for the B.Sc (IT) course. Out of which 30 seats are reserved for Muslims only. The other 30 seats are available to those who passed the University CET Examination.

- Semester pattern:
Six semesters with the Sixth semester devoted to the Project work preferably in a SW Organization / Institution / Research Organization.

Objectives of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (B.Sc. I.T.) course:

1.

To create for the students of University of Mumbai an additional avenue of self-employment and also to benefit Industry by providing them with suitable trained persons.

2.

To prepare students to exploit opportunities being newly created in the field of IT.

3.

To provide adequate basic understanding about IT among the students.

4.

To give an adequate exposure to operational environment in the field of IT.

5.

To inculcate training in the use of modern technology for the benefit of all parties concerned.

Duration
The course shall be a full time course. The duration of the course shall be six semesters spread over three years with the sixth semester devoted to a project work.

The course shall consist of 25 papers and six semester of the project work. Each paper will be of 100 marks theory and 50 marks practical/tutorials. Project will be evaluated for a total of 20 marks.
